Abstract
The National Library of Mexico played an important role in the development of librarianship and the bibliographical movement in this country, because it was there where the first individuals who promoted the opening of the first School of Library Management were formed; the later operated a few years within the National Library and the staff would be given training in the areas of cataloging and classification, among others. In addition, the National Library was a pioneer in the production of appropriate literature to support the studies of this profession, a process which finally closed its professionalization project that had begun with the opening of the Master’s degree in Library and File Management (Archival Science) at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the National University of Mexico.
