Abstract
Following the crack of the remains of one who, back in his day, was considered "the most acknowledge and renowned Spanish-American romantic", the author examined several documents related to the final destiny of Heredia's remains (Reglamento de Panteones del Distrito Federal, Archivo Histórico del Distrito Federal). In all, after his researches the investigator confesses that he ended just as he had begun. The only certain fact is that the Cuban poet was buried in Nuestra Señora de los Angeles Sanctuary in 1839 and that his remains were later transferred, in 1844, to the Santa Paula Graveyard. Upon closure of this cemetery we lose track of Heredia's remains, which could have then been taken to the Panteón General de Dolores, the Tepeyac Graveyard, San Fernando or some other cemetery.
