Abstract

The Mexican National Newspaper Archive (Hemeroteca), together with the National Library depends upon the Institute of Bibliographical Researches (IIB) of the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), and has had several places to keep and house its valuable hemerographic collection: from the choir and the chapel of the Third Order of the ex-convent of San Agustín, the church of San Pedro and San Pablo, up to the modern building in the IIB. Up-to-date, with the creation of the Mexican National Digital Hemeroteca (HNDM), the institution has almost ten million images, belonging to 907 journals and magazines printed between 1722 and 2009 in all states of the Mexican republic, for access, navigation and searches of the required materials by the user.
