Abstract

We can affirm, without fear of being mistaken, that the National Library "is one of the richest repositories of America" in what refers to the theme of Latin authors, with probably unique exemplars in the world and non-registered editions in the specialized international bibliography. In his article, the author relates how he rescued from the dust and from amongst piles of rubble —while the restoration works were being done at the Convent of San Agustín— very valuable exemplars of Latin authors from antiquity, labor that culminated with the publication of his Catalog of the Works of Latin Authors in two volumes (1978-1983). This bibliographical treasure is nowadays kept by the Fondo Reservado of the National Library of Mexico.
