Abstract

Polotitlán is located in Estado de Mexico. It owes its name to the memory of three insurgent brothers bearing the same surname. They fought and offered their life to achieve independence: Coronel José Rafael, José Trinidad and Manuel Polo. San Nicolás de los Cerritos —today Polotitlán— was their hometown. They distinguished themselves by their brave actions, side by side with other major insurgent figures. These brothers, especially José Rafael Polo, gave an example of daring and bravery, by spreading throughout the main zone of New Spain, the longing for a new revolutionary conscience.
