Abstract
The origins of the invention of the printing press may enjoy a new viewpoint from the design field. The transformation of gothic texture into typography, carried out by Peter Schöffer, brought in the development of the harmonic system for the layout ofthe graphic architecture in the 42-line Bible. In addition, it answers the main question of how handwriting evolved into tridimensionality using spatial proportions as a base, which were also applied by Gutenberg to the technical-metallurgical solution of the casting mold.
