Abstract
Bibliography in Mexico is one of the most prolific disciplines of the country; presswork production was noteworthy since the early arrival of the printing press in the American continent. Therefore, Mexico has a solid tradition of disciplinary bibliographic studies since the 18th Century. This paper offers a brief review of the bibliographic field, from the critical studies of works, their production, and the transmission of documents in archives and libraries on specific subjects; to modern bibliography, which considers material aspects, as well as production and reading processes, intending to offer a descriptive and analytic vision, along with historical and literary values.
