Abstract
The National Newspaper Library is the repository that oversees journals edited and printed in México, while the institution is responsible for generating query tools to guide users through newspapers analysis, catalogs, indexes, studies and facsimile editions of the magazines and newspapers of greater importance. This article provides an overview of the role of journalism and how staff of the Bibliographic Research Institute, which administers the National Library, responds ist duty as a provider of catalogs, finding aids, etc. for researchers, teachers, students and general public, so they seek newspapers as a source of information; and so, it also diffuses the works in its custody.
