Abstract
To comprehend newspapers as a symbolic media, this article provides references that allow to reader perceive the transition from the name of the animal to the symbol, also showing how a symbolic field can impact newspapers in several ways, from its formatting, subtitles, numbering, periodicity, covers, sections, pseudonyms, illustrations, and commercial ads. This paper presents an overview of over a hundred newspapers titles, featuring animal names, preserve at the National Newspaper Libray of Mexico.
