Abstract
Towards the end of 1910, President Porfirio Díaz designated Federico Gamboa as extraordinary ambassador in order to thank King Alfonso the XIIIth for the gifts and homages that the Spanish nation paid to Mexico on occasion of the centennial of our Independence. Gamboa states in his Diario the series of banquets and invitations, walks visits to monuments, museums and libraries to which he attended during his stay in Madrid. Among all these activities some stand out, such as his thanking speech to his majesty Alfonso the XIIIth and the gala banquet offered by the Monarch in honor to the Mexican Embassy in the Palacio de Madrid, events which were described by the main Spanish journals of that time.
