Abstract

The author offers a vision —although "fragmented", given the scarce points of contact between Mexico and Spain during the presidential period of Plutarco Elías Calles— of the Spanish press about the Mexican reality, from 1924 to 1928. The hemerographical review carried out by Aurora Cano is comprised by 35 diaries, a weekly publication and two magazines. Some of these publications manifested against Calles' government and the way he handled the State-Catholic Church religious conflict, such as ABC, El Debate, La Prensa, El Siglo futuro, etcetera; some others supported the Mexican president, like El Diluvio, El Heraldo de Madrid and mainly, El Liberal and El Sol. A third group is made up by the newspapers that published isolated notes on the Mexican situation. Among these are El Diario español, Diario universal, El Globo, La Libertad and some others. Besides these newspapers, two magazines were revised: Nuestro tiempo and Revista de las Españas.
