Abstract
According to the author, despite the sudden surge of the modern communication media (radio, television, movies, Internet), the book remains untouched as a bulwark of the Jewish civilization. This way, from the remote times in which the Book by excellence (the Bible) was read and interpreted in temples and synagogues by scribes and priests, until the present times of modern Israel, the Book cult has become the quintessential activity of the Jewish people, turning Judaism into a book-centric civilization. Therefore, it is not surprising that the love of books has led the modern Israelites to establish a Book Sanctuary, destined not to make room for the divinity, but to his word set down in books.
