Abstract
Based on partial or inexact interpretations of some documents, several authors, headed by José Marco e Hidalgo and A. Palau y Dulcet, deny that Olivia Sabuco (recognized for over 400 years) was the author of the book Nueva filosofía de la naturaleza del hombre, no conocida ni alcançada de los grandes filósofos antiguos, la cual mejora la vida y salud humana, and attribute it to her father Miguel, since a work of such scope was "... not within reach of a 20-year old girl." Nonetheless, through an exhaustive investigation, the authors of this article have irrefutable proof —backed up by the Royal Privilege for the publication of the work granted to Oliva Sabuco on July 23, 1586— of Oliva's authorship.
