Abstract
José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi is considered a forerunner of Mexican independentist movement. He forged his combative journalist reputation through several publications —49 pamphlets and 24 issues of the Conductor Eléctrico— between June 1820 and September 1821. By means of admirable rhetoric juggling, Fernández de Lizardi went from being a strong 1812´s Spanish Constitution advocate to an apparently pacifist guardsman of the independence, proclaimed by the Iguala´s Plan signed by Agustín de Iturbide and Vicente Guerrero.
